entitled: "would you like an m-16 or an uzi?"

yesterday, i somehow managed to make it from the subway to work and out to lunch and back, without noticing masses of national guard troops and cops swarm the entire financial district, carrying m-16's. how, you may ask? i know not. i could blame it on the cold outside, or the cold in my head. my co-worker kept talking about all the 'men with guns' he was seeing everytime he stepped out of the building. he would also look up nervously everytime we would hear a siren outside (which i admit there were an unusual number of yesterday). i really don't blame him for being a little freaked out, since we are basically across the street from the stock exchange - a major target, we think. i hope this anti-war rally actually turns into a march on saturday. from what i've heard and read, though, the united for peace organization still doesn't have a permit to march to central park - only a permit to stand in a large group and wave signs and yell. i am a little embarrased to say this will be the first public protest i attend. but at least i'm beginning to make an effort! i just hope it's not too futile, to try and stop bush's slaughter of millions of innocent iraqi civilians. christ on a bike.

song stuck in my head:
