entitled: "AIDS"

my friend david emailed me recently to say he will be participating in the AIDS New York Walk soon. he is trying desperately to come up with a lofty goal in pledge money, so i thought i would help him by asking my wonderful, loyal, highly intellectual, and beautiful readers to donate to his cause. i don't think i need to explain the importance of such a cause, nor do i need to describe how good you will feel to know you are contributing directly to research and/or to the extension of someone's life. and i don't think i need to remind you this is tax deductable either.

as i filled out my information online, i halted at the dedication portion of the short, convenient form. i asked joe if we know anyone with AIDS, and after a few moments of ponderance, said, 'no. but if we did, i'm sure we'd be crying our eyes out right now.' i think he's right.

the following is a quote from the CDC web site. i honestly hadn't paid much attention to the statistics lately, so i looked it up:

Today, 42 million people are estimated to be living with HIV/AIDS. Of these, 38.6 million are adults. 19.2 million are women, and 3.2 million are children under 15.

Please go to David's Personal HIV/AIDS Walk Page , and do a wonderful thing.

Thank you.
